When did the Yokefellow Prison Ministry begin in the
Lehigh Valley?
September 21, 1983 at the Lehigh County Prison in
downtown Allentown.
What is the purpose of Yokefellow?
To show those incarcerated that there is a better way of
life by accepting Jesus Christ as Savior and Lord.
How many people are involved in this ministry?
The Lehigh Valley Council has 102 Christian men and women,
15 of which are ordained ministers.
What happens after a prisoner is releases?
Yokefellow is interested in aftercare, or what happens
after the inmate is discharged from prison. Currently 75% of discharged
prisoners return to prison. To address this problem, Yokefellow offers
these people two weekly meetings. We not only provide fellowship, we also
provide food, clothing, lodging, and other needs. Much more is offered to
anyone discharged from prison, helping with their transition into society
